Self-Kleen Inorganic Hybrid Penetrating Self Cleaning Sealer
THE FIRST ‘ALL IN ONE DAY’ PROCESS
DESCRIPTION: Self-Kleen is a Ultra-low VOC water-based penetrating sealer for Pavers, Concrete and Wall Systems with photocatalytic self-cleaning properties, providing a hydrophobic protective barrier, hardening the substrate and leaving a natural matte enhancement.
Self - Kleen is formulated to seal products made to ASTM C - 936 specifications with an absorption rate of 5% or less. Pavers or Concrete with a higher absorption rate may require additional application(s) of sealer.
ADVANTAGES:
- One Day Process (No Down Time)
- Self- Cleaning Properties (Photocatalytic Function)
- Provides a Protective Barrier
- Little to No Maintenance
- User Friendly And Environmentally Safe
- High Solids
- Hardens The Concrete/Pavers
- Minimal Odor
- Will Not Harm Vegetation
- Cleans 60% of the NOX in the air
- VOC Compliant In All 50 States <15 g/L
- Great for Tile Roofs and Wall Systems
ESTIMATING GUIDE: Typically, the application rate will vary from 150 to 175 sq. ft. per gallon; however, this rate will vary depending on the texture and absorption rate of the Concrete/Pavers.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:We recommend wearing protective goggles and latex gloves. For best results, apply Self-Kleen at temperatures between 60° F and 90° F. In cooler conditions, the sealer should be warmed to approximately 70° F. Do not apply if surface or ambient temperature is below 50°F. If temperature is going to drop below freezing (32° F) make sure sealer has time to cure. A test for compatibility, penetration and adhesion is recommended.
MIXING: Self-Kleen is designed to be stirred well and is ready to use (No Dilution). We recommend a portable drill mixer to mix thoroughly. Make sure there is no sediment at the bottom of the pail to make sure the sealer is thoroughly mixed.
Pavers with a high absorption rate will require additional coats of sealer to provide a protective barrier and desired matte finish. Self- Kleen sealer is not intended for submerged surfaces.
PROCEDURE:
- Pressure Washing: Pressure wash the area to be sealed, ensuring that surfaces are clean and free of oil, efflorescence, laitance or contaminants prior to beginning the sealing process.
- Rinsing: Rinse the pavers with water. If any acids/cleaners were used during the cleaning phase, make sure that the acids and cleaners are thoroughly rinsed before sealing. (Allow surface time to dry before sealing for full penetration).
- Sanding: Make sure sand is stabilized before applying Self-Kleen, as it is a penetrating sealer and does not have a joint stabilizing function.
- Sealing: Self-Kleen should be applied to a dry substrate. If there is any water (H2o) in the capillaries, it will dilute the sealer and possibly prevent deep penetration. Allow the substrate to dry before sealing. Use a pump sprayer. Uniformly apply an even coat of Self-Kleen and possibly a second coat depending on the porosity of the substrate. Hold sprayer tip 10”–12” from the paver surface (avoid overspray on adjacent surfaces, rinse overspray with water). Back rolling is recommended for consistency. Self-Kleen can also be rolled on and appears white when applied but dries crystal clear. Do not allow sealer to pool, consistency is very important. Only apply enough sealer to provide a protective barrier as too much sealer may provide a whitish hue due to the titanium additives for the photocatalytic (Self-Cleaning) function. Darker substrates (Pavers) would show this hue more so than light colored pavers and or concrete.
DRYING TIME: Self-Kleen will normally dry in sunny areas within a few hours. Shaded areas, lower temperatures or high relative humidity will slow the drying process and may take more time to cure. The surface may be open to foot traffic in 4 hours and to vehicular traffic in 48 hours. To minimize tire marks, vehicles should not make sudden stops or tight turns. Always check for tackiness before foot and especially vehicle traffic.
MAINTENANCE: Since this is a self-cleaning sealer and works from the UV and visible light there is little if any maintenance. In areas where there are overhead structures and the rain cannot wash the dirt off the substrates/walls, light pressure washing may be required.
CLEANUP: Immediately flush pump system after use with water. Always flush the system with water the following morning before your next project to have it ready for use.
STORAGE: Do not store at or below freezing temperatures. Do not allow product to freeze. If product freezes it is no longer usable. Self-Kleen should be stored in a tightly closed container in a cool dry place. Shelf life is one year.
CAUTION: Too much sealer, or excessive coats may induce a slippery condition along with a white hue. Do not take internally. May cause skin and eye irritation. All label directions should be read thoroughly before use.
